Rapid decline...

Well, I raved about Starbury TV a few posts back, and sad to say, it's not all that anymore! It has basically become a bunch of young girls asking him to take his shirt off in the chat box, and him dancing around. I tuned in tonight when it started, but he quickly lost my attention by dancing on a table. I believe he has just overexposed himself. In related news, tomorrow is the last day the Celtics can offer back-up PG Gabe Pruitt a deal. This will actually be big for Marbury-if the C's still want him. Goodnite Celtics fans...

UStream...

So Stephon Marbury's 24 hour live feed on UStream concluded around 9am this morning. I have heard mostly positive feedback from fans about the whole thing, and some negative feedback from mostly media types. Personally, the whole UStream experience is amazing to me. As a kid, there was no access to pro athletes-none, zilch, zero. The security at arenas/stadiums pre 911 was a bit more laxed, so I had opportunities to meet a few athletes and get autographs and stuff, but as far as talking to them or exchanging messages, it didn't happen. Today, for example, I was able to chat with Cartier Martin, who plays for the Charlotte Bobcats. Not a big star, but still, on a Saturday afternoon, I was able to shoot the breeze with an NBA player from my couch-how freakin' cool is that. Mr. Martin, by the way, thinks Bill Walker (his teammate at KSU) is playing the "wrong position out there in Boston". He seems to think Walker should be a true 3 and not a 4. Walker didn't play much last year, but I thought I remembered him spelling Paul Pierce...Anyway, technology has gotten fans much closer to athletes, and I think it's just fabulous. Besides Starbury, quite a few other NBA'ers are on Twitter. Kevin Durant, Dwight Howard and Paul Pierce just to name a few. You can see all of them at: www.socialmediasports.com/category/nba

24 hours of Starbury....

So Steph has been feeding live since 9am EST. I was able to catch some of it at work and some tonight. He will be broadcasting until 9am EST tomorrow. His catchphrase has become: "They're trying to put me in a box..!" Here's a great clip from earlier today. By the way, no news on Big Baby or anything official on Marquis Daniels....

The best thing to happen since the season ended...

Last night, I witnessed the most entertaining thing I have ever seen on the internet. No, not 2 girls 1 cup, not Rapist jumping over a car, Stephon Marbury's 1st UStream live video chat. The 1st hour or so was a comedy of errors. Steph couldn't get the camera on his Mac to work, so all we had was sound, and a close-up of a UStream tech guy's face. As 200 or so folks watched and listened, Steph cracked jokes, yelled at people in his house and hummed songs. One of the best jokes was Steph saying, "Rondo will make a jumpshot before you fix this thing!" It was unscripted at it's best. For a while, we lost all audio and video, then, Steph gave up on the video feed and began to let us "have at it", as the stream was titled. Steph went on to answer questions like "how did your first game as a Celtic feel?" He went on to explain he was not sure what to expect-boos? Hate? He said when he got the standing o from the Garden crowd, it "felt like a million little kids jumped out of me!" He was asked his opinion on David Stern, to which he replied: "David Stern does his job the best that he can.." On not taking a shot during a crucial point in the playoffs vs the Bulls, he said his brother asked him; "are you scared? shoot that mo#$er fu%$er!" (the ball..). When asked about his experience with the Knicks, he said that "not playing for a year and a half killed me!". One of my personal favorite moments was when he told the audience that someone once told him his father "had D1 sperm." Meaning he and his brothers all went to Division 1 college bball programs-"D1 sperm"..classic! Asked about the Boston fans, "all Boston did was show me love.." At one point, he told listeners he had to take a 5-minute break so he could cut his maid a check, and he also impersonated us Bostonians a few times saying "wicked retahded!" It was truly a great night of humor, realness and truth. I really got the feeling from Marbury that he just wants to be understood, and struggles with the same things we all do. As far as next season goes, he seems to have narrowed it down to coming back to Boston (yes!!) or playing in Europe. He made it clear that he really enjoys Italy. Steph said on Twitter today that "Have At It" will air again and I for one can't wait! You can follow Stephon on Twitter here: www.twitter.com/StarburyMarbury....

Steph continues Boston lovefest, DROP...

So Stephon Marbury continues to show Boston much love. Recently on Twitter, a user tried to label Boston fans as "haters". Marbury was quick to say the contrary that Boston fans "are with it." Steph plans to address the real haters, and everyone else tonight at 9pm via a live UStream broadcast. You can check it out at www.twitter.com/StarburyMarbury. Still no official announcement yet that Marquis Daniels is coming to Boston, but it's a done deal according to his agent. The only thing yet to be decided is whether he'll sign on for a deal, or will be part of a sign and trade. Marquis likes to do the Twitter thing as well. One of his Twitter homies, DROP, is an up and coming hip-hopper from Orlando. DROP's favorite color seems to be green, which enabled us to strike up a quick Tweet/conversation about Marquis (possibly) coming to the Celtics, Boston's hip-hop scene, etc. DROP hopes to be checking out the Boston scene sometime when the NBA season starts up. Here is his latest video, entitled: "Thug and a Goon". You can follow Marquis and DROP on twitter via: www.twitter.com/lambo6 and www.twitter.com/AllProDrop respectively...

Starbury won't close the door, Daniels' tats...

Former Celtic Stephon Marbury has been Tweeting w/the fans quite a bit the last few days. Of note, a Tweet he posted today: "boston fans. for the record i will never close the door on the celtics. they were to good to me for me to do such a thing."
I'd love to see Steph back as the C's backup point guard, but as he Tweeted the other day, not being a starter was "a hard pill to swallow" for him. Only time will tell where Steph ends up. Last I heard, the Washington Wizards were looking at him.
As reported yesterday, the Celtics will be acquiring Marquis Daniels either thru a sign and trade or the $1.9 MIL exception. I noticed Marquis had some interesting tattoos and I posted a few pics. One is a giant map of Florida that covers his back and another a man shooting himself in the head with a shotgun. Pretty interesting stuff. Goodnite Celtics fans....

A little bit about Marquis....

Brief video from the Pacers site with Daniels being interviewed. He is a big fan of hip-hop and likes to rap himself. He also seems to be a very laid-back guy......

Marquis Daniels to be a Celtic...

According to Marc Spears of Yahoo and the Boston Globe, the Celtics will be bringing G Marquis Daniels to Boston. It will either be via the $1.9 MIL salary cap exception or a sign and trade. Nothing has been confirmed from what I read so far, but fan-favorite Brian Scalabrine's name has been tossed around. Daniels averaged career-bests of 13.6 pts and 4.6 assists per game and also had 1.2 steals in 54 contests for Indiana last season.

Summer League $

I was disappointed when I found out the NBA was going to charge fans to watch the Vegas Summer League this year. Normally, NBA TV would broadcast the games free. This year, you can watch them via the Internet for $15. I know, I know..it's only $15. But still, c'mon, for Summer League games..? Well don't worry if you're broke. A little site called "Justin TV" allows you to watch all the games for free. You can get there by copying and pasting this link in your browser: http://atdhe.net/. The site also allows you to watch other sports, as well as network and cable tv shows on your computer. As far as Celtics news, there is not much new that I have heard. Big Baby is still supposedly being courted by Detroit and a few other teams, and many Celtics fans that I know (including me) would like to see Danny sign another wing-player. Specifically Matt Barnes. Mr. Barnes is a free-agent after spending last year in Phoenix. He is an aggressive defender and can spell Paul Pierce as a 3 and play the 4. My favorite C's website, RedsArmy.com, is reporting the Cavs have some interest in signing Barnes. I'd really like to see Ainge snatch up Mr. Barnes soon, as I have a feeling he will not be on the market much longer. Finally, I use "StatCounter"- a service that tells me who is visiting my blog and where they log-in from. It seems I have a fan in Santa Clara, California who visits alot. Unfortunately, he/she doesn't leave any comments. I'm glad to see my site getting hits from the West coast and would love to hear any/all opinions. So if you stop my blog, take a second to leave a comment-even if it's to say you think I suck. I'd rather some negative feedback than none at all. Peace out Celtics fans....

Need for 'Sheed...

With all the Rasheed Wallace talk floating around, here are some high and low lights of Mr. Wallace. According to numerous sources, the Celtics are pushing to add 'Sheed to their roster for the upcoming season...

1)Run-in with a Hornets' ballboy. (This was his 16th tech of the year which also brought an automatic suspension)
2)'Sheed tosses his jersey in anger and it lands on an assistant coach's face
3)Some of the good things he brings to the game.
