All the way turned-up..

C's started off slow & sloppy tonight, but quickly got it together to pummel the Cavs in Cleveland 106-87. The C's came out of the gate looking a bit rusty, and the Cavs looked to be full of energy. But whatever Doc said to the guys after the end of the 1st worked.

The Celts played lock-down defense, and quickly set the tone for the rest of the night. Led by Paul Pierce's 3, (and 11 points) the Celtics finished with 8 blocked-shots and held the Cavs to 39% from the field. The Celts meanwhile nailed 50% of their shots.

Rajon Rondo scored a season-high 23 points, most of them on blow-by layups that had the Cavaliers swatting at air all night. Marquis Daniels tied his highest point total as a Celtic with 16 and played great defense once again. Nate put in 8 and Big Baby dropped 17 in another fine effort from the bench.

C's now fly back to Boston and face the Blazers tomorrow at TD Garden. The Blazers will also be playing for the 2nd time in 2 nights. I will be at the Garden tomorrow night for the game, which will tip-off at 7:30pm.

Walker off the window...

All this Antoine Walker talk has got some of us Celtics fans nostalgic. What better way to remember 'Toine's days in green than this classic moment from 2002. Enjoy.

Revenge...

C's get some revenge at home tonight, beating the Raps 110-101 at the Garden. C's lost a tough one to Toronto north of the border last Friday.

Celts came out firing on all cylinders tonight. KG was dunking, Ray was nailing 3's, and Rondo, in his return from a hamstring injury, was dishing. The boys in green were up by 11 after 1. But the Raps crashed the boards and scored 32 points in the 2nd quarter to stay in the game. Rebounding was a problem tonight, especially on the offensive side. Raps pulled down 17 offensive rebounds to Boston's 8.

But Kevin Garnett's season-high 26 points & the C's dominance down-low were the difference. Shaq put in 16 as well as the C's scored a ridiculous 64 points in the paint. SugarRay added 17, Pierce 18 and Glen Davis chipped in 18 off the bench.

The C's now have 3 full days off before returning to Cleveland for the 2nd time this year on Tuesday. Tip-off will be at 7pm EST Tuesday night.

Shaq saves the day....

The Beast wishes crowd Happy Thxgiving
When Delonte West went down near the end of the 1st half tonight, things looked really bad in Boston. The C's were really struggling and the Nets were in control. But at the beginning of the 2nd half, as we learned D.West's wrist was broken, the C's started to turn things around.

Behind Shaq's game-high 25 points, some clutch-shooting by Ray and Nate, and some all-around balling by Marquis, the C's beat a determined Nets team 89-83 tonight at the Garden. Delonte landed hard on his right wrist late in the 1st half, and the C's announced later in the game that he did in fact break it. There is no timetable for his return.

Classic Shaq
"What's that? You want more?"
This game was a struggle for the C's. The Nets, coming off a good OT win over Atlanta last night, kept fighting and never gave in.

The Captain put in 18 points, Nate and Ray both hit clutch 3's down the stretch and Marquis had an all-around solid game. He had 4 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and a block. It seemed that he was always in the right place all game long.

The Celtics are now off for Turkey Day and return to action Friday at the Garden for a rematch w/Toronto. Tip-off is at 7:30pm. Have a great Thanksgiving everyone.

Slaughtered..

"Enough bullsh*t. Let's smoke these fools tonight."
I knew the C's would be hungry tonight. But I had no idea they'd come out like this. Losing at home to a Durant-less OKC game on Friday didn't sit well, and then losing in Toronto to a weaker Raps team was the last straw. Enough. C's destroy the Hawks in Atlanta tonight 99-76.

The C's came out of the gate full of fire. Attacking, pushing the ball and defending- 3 staples of Celtic basketball. Shaq had his 2nd highest scoring game so far as a C, with 13 points to go with 11 boards in 21 minutes, and Nate & Ticket also had double-doubles: Ticket with 17 and 11 and Nate the Great with 16 and 10 assists. Nate also hit 4 of his 5 three-point attempts. It was just an old-fashioned beat down tonight.

The defense was also on point this evening, with Delonte West getting up for 2 highlight-reel blocks, and Marquis Daniels putting-back 3 Hawk's shots himself. The Green also continued to shutdown the opposition's two-guards. D Wade and Gilbert Arenas have already been victims, tonight it was Joe Johnson: held to 6 points on 2 of 10 shooting.

Celts now come home for a day off before facing the Nets at the Garden on Wednesday. Tip-off is at 7:30pm.

Blah.

C's lose an ugly one in Toronto today 102-101. Paul Pierce missed a shot at the horn, the Raps D and bench were tough, the refs made a bad-call in the final seconds and the C's missed too many free-throws.

End of story.

No time to wallow. C's are back at it tomorrow night against Atlanta in the ATL. Tip-off is at 7pm EST.

Here's the box score courtesy of YahooSports.

"Too casual.."

Couldn't have said it better myself KG. Just in from the Garden where the C's drop a frustrating one to Russell Westbrook and the OKC Thunder 89-84. Westbrook had 31 points and at times seemed like he was never going to miss.
Man on a mission

Celts just could not get into a rhythm tonight. They would get a huge play, like Rondo's put-back slam, but just couldn't follow it up with a good run or consecutive defensive stops. The C's missed their final 9 shots of the game. I really believe the whole "Durant is out" thing also possibly had the C's a bit too relaxed from the jump.
Ugh.

Short post for me tonight. Went straight to the Garden for pregame after work, so I'm exhausted.

C's now take tomorrow off to travel to Toronto. They face the Raptors on Sunday afternoon, with tip-off @1pm.

Footage of A.I.'s 1st points and 1st game in Turkey...

Allen Iverson made his debut for Turkish team Besiktas Cola Turka on Tuesday. The Answer scored 15 points in his squad's 94-91 loss. Here's some footage of A.I. being introduced to the Turkish crowd, as well as his first points in classic A.I. fashion- an and-one dribble drive to the rack.

Some folks didn't care for A.I. when he played in the NBA, but I was always a fan of his exciting play and hard-nosed style. Best of luck overseas A.I. And don't be late for practice..

The Shaq and Rondo show...

The C's go to OT for the 3rd time this season and pull out a win over Memphis 116-110. I remember being at the Garden during last week's game vs the Bulls and telling a friend "if we can go 2-2 on this road trip I'll be happy." 3-1 with wins in Miami and OKC? Yessir.

Shaquille O'Neal came out of the gate absolutely insane tonight, scoring bucket after bucket on dunks and layups in the 1st quarter. He finished with 18 and 6, the best performance of his very young career in green. Rondo again put up ridiculous dime numbers with 17 assists. He has now had 15 or more assists in 7 of the C's 10 games this year.

Paul Pierce failed to get a shot up at the end of regulation, but still had a great night, leading all-scorers with 28 points, including some key shots in the 4th and 9 of 9 shooting from the line.

Nate Robinson was excellent off the bench, putting in 15 points and nailing 3 hoops from downtown.

The C's now have a much-needed 3 days off before they face the Wizards back in Boston on Wednesday. This will be the first game of the year where Delonte West will be eligible to play. His 10-game suspension ended after tonight's game w/Memphis. It will also be Boston's first taste of super-rookie John Wall. Should be alot of fun. I am debating on buying myself a ticket for this one. Tip-off will be at 7:30pm...

2 for 2...

Celtics beat Miami for the second time this young season, 112-107 in Miami tonight. This was just a tremendous effort by the whole squad. Defense, offense, outside-shooting and most importantly, they kept the turnovers to a minimum. The Celtics only turned the ball over 8 times tonight. Anyone who has followed the Celts over the last two seasons knows that turnovers have been very costly for this squad.

The key to tonight's win though was SugarRay. Allen was absolutely torrid, putting in 33 points on 7 of 9 shooting from beyond the arc. Paul Pierce was in Captain mode, putting in 25 of his own, including some clutch baskets down the stretch. KG also had yet another solid game, tallying 16 and 13.

The bench also chipped in-especially Nate Robinson who had 12 points and 3 assists. Marquis Daniels did a stellar job defending DWade. Wade was held to 8 points, on 2 of 12 shooting. The C's now have tomorrow off before finishing this road-trip in Memphis on Saturday night. Tip-off will be at 8pm. I will also be doing a live UStream on Saturday evening at 5pm EST. Details coming tomorrow.

I don't think so Wade

Win some, lose some...

C's lose a tough one on the road in Dallas, 89-87 tonight. Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry hit some clutch shots in the final minutes, and the C's just couldn't execute well down the stretch. Dallas finished the game with a 15-7 run.

Kevin Garnett continued to play well, going for 18 points and 15 boards, and Paul Pierce led the C's with 24.
Nowitzki led all-scorers with 25. Also of note, Jermaine O'Neal left the game in the first-half with an unknown injury and did not return. No updates from the C's yet.

C's now get a much needed and much deserved two days off. Next up, the Miami Heat-this time on their turf.
Should be a very fun game, and I'm sure that Shaq should be ready to go. Tip-off on Thursday for the nationally-televised rematch is at 8pm EST.

Road warriors...

C's bench comes through huge once again as they help the Green get a win tonight in OKC 92-83. The Celtics played arguably their best 2 quarters of the season to go up 58-37 at the half. But the Thunder then went on a 13-2 run to start the 2nd half of action. The Celts finally settled back in, behind some clutch shooting by Baby, Ray and KG to get a huge win to begin this tough road trip.

Ray Allen led the C's with 19. But the bench really clinched this game-Semih Erden had his best game as a Celt scoring 9 points to go along with 4 boards and a 5-5 night from the charity stripe. Marquis Daniels had another solid game, putting in 7 to go along with a steal, an assist and a rebound. The C's bench destroyed OKC's 33-9 tonight. Kevin Durant was his usual fantastic-self, leading all scorers with 34.

The road trip doesn't get any easier. The C's now travel to Dallas to face the Mavs tomorrow in the 2nd of a back-to-back. Tip-off is at 8:30pm EST.

About last night...

The battle down low
Quis going hard in the paint
Thanks for the memories
I had a great time at the Garden last night. It was unfortunate that Chicago came all the way back after the C's were up by 16, but what an exciting game. Definitely playoff-like intensity in the 4th and in OT.

The Return....

21 hours and counting 'til the return of the Red Menace...

Pierce hits 20K and KG gets fired-up..

Kevin Garnett gets the Celtics and the crowd fired-up to help Boston beat Milwaukee 105-102 in overtime tonight at the Garden. KG made two clutch baskets in the last 2:30 minutes of regulation and stayed focused despite being pushed by a testy Andrew Bogut. That, and some clutch free-throw shooting by the newest member of the Celtics 20,000 point club, Paul Pierce, sealed the win.

This was a long, exciting, at times sloppy and physical game at the Garden tonight. You really have to give both teams credit. The Celts and Bucks both were playing in the 2nd night of a back-to-back, yet they each fought until the end.

Short post tonight folks-I have to get up in 7 hours. I will be at the Garden on Friday for Celts-Bulls.

Shut em' down..

Celts shut down the Pistons in Detroit tonight 109-86. It was a solid, team wide effort all-around, led by Rondo's 17 assists, KG's game-high 22 points and the C's season-low 8 turnovers. Rondo said after Friday's win over the Knicks that the team needed to "slow down" as a whole, and they seemed to do that tonight. Jermaine O'Neal was consistent in his first start of the season, replacing the injured Shaq. JO had 12 points, 2 boards and 2 blocks.

Paul Pierce scored 21 on 8 of 13 shooting, and Glen Davis came off the bench for another solid night: 10 points, 5 boards and he also drew a couple of charges.

C's now fly back to Boston to face the Bucks tomorrow night at the Garden. Tomorrow will also be the 2nd half of a back-to-back for Miwaukee, who lost at home to Portland tonight. Tip-off at the Garden will be at 8pm.

I won't be able to make tomorrow's game, but will be in the house for the return of Thibs and Scal on Friday.

Ticket talks chemistry....

From today's practice. C's back in action tomorrow vs the Pistons. Shaq is out, and did not travel with the team to Detroit. Jermaine O'Neal will likely get the start. Video courtesy of WEEI's Mike Petraglia
