Marbury comments....

Stephon Marbury sat in on the Twolves' broadcast last night. (and was getting paid by the Knicks too-what a life) Anyways, here's what he had to say about joining the C's:

Pierce en fuego tonight....

The Celts easily disposed of the Wizards tonight 108-83 at the Garden. Paul Pierce was on tonight-9 of 10 from the field and 5 of 6 from 3 pt land. This game was never close. Next up, the Knicks at MSG on Sunday night. They fell to Indiana tonight in NYC. Just finished watching a great game on NBA TV. Kevin Durant hit a 3 pointer with 2.7 left for Oklahoma City at home against the Nuggets. Carmelo Anthony then got the ball in the corner from out-of-bounds-he dribbled once and then drilled a 3 of his own with 0.01 left and the Nuggets won. Goodnight Celtics fans....

58-34 half..

Celts up 58-34 at halftime. P-Double leads the Celtics with 17 points. Andre Blatche, forward for the Wizards left the game with an ankle/leg injury and will not return according to Greg Dickerson of CSN. Matt Cassell is sitting courtside with Steve Pagliuca....

Marbury Boston bound...???

ESPN's Marc Stein reported today that a "source" claims Stephon Marbury is going to end up with the Celtics. After PJ Brown saying he is definitely "done", the C's options are dwindling. I think it's pretty obvious we need another big man off the bench, but a solid scorer like Marbury couldn't hurt. However, we all know the negativity that surrounds Stephon. Some of the words used have been: "cancer", "ball-hog", "thug", and the list goes on. My personal opinion is that if he can control his attitude and commit to being a team-player, this guy is a proven scorer and experienced PG. Granted, we have Eddie House who can shoot the 3 off the bench, but wouldn't we want a "pure scorer" as opposed to a streaky shooter like House...? Those are the questions that Danny Ainge, Doc, Steve Pagliuca and the rest of the GreenTeam will have to answer. Oh yeah, and by the way, there's a game tonight! The Wizards are in town. Caron Butler, who is coming back from an ankle malady is expected to play tonight. Tip-off is @7:30pm at the Garden. Figured I'd stir up some memories with this picture.....

PJ reiterates....

An article in today's Times-Picayune, a New Orleans newspaper, quotes PJ Brown as saying he is done with the NBA. He goes on to say that the Hornets, Celtics and a few others showed interest in him, but he is trying to "move forward." I would think with the Rockets re-acquiring Dikembe Mutumbo the C's now have to hope that Joe Smith's contract is bought out. The other name being tossed around is 'Zo. We'll see...Remember to keep voting for the Celtic's players to go to All-Star 2009. There are 18 days left to vote. You can vote by using the widget on my blog's page....

Happy 2009

No NBA games today. For those who need their hoop fix, luckily we have NBA TV. Right now, they are showing last year's All-Star game. Watch for Ray Allen to put on a shooting clinic. Then, at 5pm, they are airing a one-hour condensed version of Game 6 of last year's finals. May be therapeutic for those of us still frustrated by the West Coast trip. I have seen it a few times, but I guess I never get tired of watching the Lakers get blown-out by almost 40 points. Happy 2009 Celts fans, and enjoy Charles Barkley's (sweaty) mugshot. He was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving in Arizona a couple of days ago. The strangest part of the story is that he was out clubbing that night with Jaleel White-the guy who played "Urkel." Go figure....

Happy New Year

After last night's loss, my general feeling is disappointment. Not worry, not panic, just disappointment. I've noticed some stat geeks and wanna be coaches on other blogs/websites always want to tell Doc how to run the team. Or KG to play better D, etc, etc. People started comparing these guys to the Bulls teams of the 90's during the last win streak. Too much, too soon. I think they are a great team also, but I believe the next month and a half will give us a much clearer picture-we will see what these guys are made of. After the Wiz this Friday, we play Houston, we go into Cleveland, and also have home and home/back to back with Toronto. Then, in February, we get the Fakers again, then go on another West coast trip that is divided up by the All-Star break. We are on the road for 90% of February 2009. Ubuntu will be put to the ultimate test. I believe our guys have what it takes to repeat, they will just have to really work together and perhaps grab another big.
