Say it ain't so Powe!??!!

The Celtics made Big Baby and Shelden Williams official today during a press conference. But the real news that has Celtics fans all a-Twitter today is that good friend Leon Powe will be joining Shaq, Lebron and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Yahoo sports reports that the Cavaliers' team doctors will evaluate Leon's knee and his recovery process as soon as tomorrow. If they are satisfied with his progress, the Cavs will sign him to a 2-year deal for the league minimum. Leon was a huge crowd favorite while here in Boston, and it was easy to love the guy. He plays with alot of heart and often times would bring the crowd to their feet with his hustle plays and in your face dunks. Leon has gone through quite a bit in his young life. As a child, his dad left him, his house burned down, he and his siblings lived in foster care and his mother passed away. This information was revealed to fans during a halftime feature of the NBA Finals in 2008. Fans who already liked or admired Leon at that point just embraced him more. He is a strong person and will do very well wherever he goes. So good luck Leon and Godspeed. You will truly be missed by me and many other Boston fans, but NEVER forgotten....*Here is Leon's most memorable moment as a Celtic. I was lucky enough to be at this game and it was just incredible*

Big Baby staying with the Celtics...

Mulitiple media outlets (I love saying that) are reporting that Big Baby will sign a 2 year re-up with the Celtics sometime tomorrow. Earlier in the summer, it appeared he would be going to NJ or maybe even San Antonio but he will be staying in Boston. According to the Boston Herald, the deal will be worth $6.3 million. I also have read that the C's hope to have the Marquis Daniels deal signed, sealed and delivered this coming week as well. That, I have to say, I will believe when I see. It reminds me of the same saga Boston fans went through with JD Drew a few years back-we kept hearing he was coming here, but it took forever to get the deal done. Hopefully we will be seeing much more of this from Big Baby over the next couple of years....

2009-10 Boston Celtics schedule..

Got my hands on a leaked copy of the Boston Celtics 2009-10 regular season schedule.
Of note: 33 nationally televised games, the Lakers only visit to the Garden comes on a Sunday afternoon, (which I am THRILLED about!) we go into the Staples Center to face the Fakers on Feb.18th, unfortunately, King James and the Cavs don't come to town until Feb 25th for a nationally televised TNT game, Opening Night at the Garden comes on Wednesday, Oct. 28th vs Charlotte and then 2 nights later, Chicago is in town for the 1st time since that spectacular 7-game playoff series of last season. The NBA will officially be releasing the schedule in about an hour, but I got a hold of it through Twitter. Here it is:

Shelden Williams...

Multiple media outlets are reporting the C's have landed oft-traveled power forward Shelden Williams. Williams was drafted in 2006 by the Hawks and has bounced around the league since. He's already been with Atlanta, Sac-Town and Minnesota in his short NBA career. I honestly must say that I know Shelden most for being married to the WNBA's Candace Parker and not much else. He has averaged roughly 4 points and 4 boards over 14 minutes in his 3 year NBA career. He is a big guy, at 6'9" 250 lbs, so he will be a banger down-low and bolsters the front court somewhat. My next thought is what, if anything, does this say about the C's plans for Big Baby. Is this their way of making sure they have another big body in case another team offers Glen more money then Danny wants to match? Only time will tell. Still no Marquis Daniels deal, but Spears (Marc of Yahoo) says it's a done deal...

Top dunks of last season, the mods...

To kill time until the next Celtics transaction, (hopefully the signing of Marquis Daniels) enjoy the top 25 dunks of the 2008-09 NBA season. Our boy Bill Walker has a nasty one on Brad Miller that made the cut... So I keep hoping to tune into Starbury TV and see something different, but it still just seems to be his forum to dance with his shirt off and do not much of anything else lately. They have also added "Mods" or moderators. They are supposed to keep profane language and other internet imperfections off the site and out of the chat room. But I have found them to be a bit controlling and arrogant. I made a comment earlier that Steph should really "knock this crap off and focus back on bball" and was banished from the room/site temporarily. Hopefully if the Celtics come a calling again, he will pull it together and be our backup PG successfully. Well, it's 3:45am EST-goodnite Celtics fans all over the world....
