Moving...

What's up Celtics fans. I didn't see one minute of tonight's game. Not even a highlight. First one I missed all year matter of fact. C's won, 103-84. From what I caught over the Internet, the Thunder hung in through the 1st half, and the C's broke it open in the 3rd/4th quarter. Eddie House hit some big three's off the bench. I am in the process of moving over the next few days, so posts may be few and far between. Be back soon. Goodnite Celtics fans...

Baby strikes again...

With no KG in the lineup, and Doc promising he would rest Pierce, it was clear someone on the Green would need to step up tonight. Well, Glen Davis was more than happy to oblige. Davis scored 19 points and grabbed a career-high 12 boards. Stephon Marbury had his best scoring night as a member of the Green, scoring 11 points on 4 of 5 shooting, including 3 from beyond the arc. Ray Allen also had a great night, dropping in 22 and hitting some clutch shots. P-Double put in 21 and nailed some big free-throws down the stretch.Great effort all around from a team who easily could've let KG's absence get them down. Now the C's return home for 5 games at the Garden. 1st up, Kevin Durant and the Thunder on Sunday. Tip-off is @7pm. Goodnite Celtics fans...

Vote For Daylon

Hey everyone, let's be sure we vote for Dancing Daylon. He is the adorable kid who dances up a storm at the C's home games. See complete info at Yahoo's NBA page here:

Not to be...

Celtics fall to Orlando tonight at Amway Arena 84-82. Orlando was up by as much as 16 in this game, but the Celtics crept back in during the 4th quarter. Paul Pierce got hot, and the C's held Dwight Howard scoreless in the 4th, but it wasn't enough. Pierce missed a baseline jumper as time expired. P2 led the Green with 26, ending a streak of 3 games in which he did not reach double-figures. Howard led the Magic with 24 and had 4 blocks. KG played about 16 minutes and wasn't much of a factor offensively with only 4 points, but he grabbed 8 boards. Of course the question on everyone's mind is "would we have won if KG played more tonight..?" Possibly, but we also turned the ball over 18 times which played a huge part in this loss also in my opinion. The Magic gave us some chances to take this game with missed shots or turnovers of their own, but we just couldn't breakthrough. Next up, another game that will have a playoff feel-we travel to the rowdy Phillips Arena to play the Atlanta Hawks. Tip-off is 7:30pm EST. Goodnite Celtics fans...

"Pure...."

Jeff Van Gundy, former NBA coach and current ESPN/ABC NBA analyst christened Ray Allen "Pure" tonight. The nickname speaks for itself. Let's hope Pure and the rest of the Green can come back tonight-they are down 73-67 with 8:40 left in the 4th....

Clipped...

Celts enjoy their 3rd win in as many games tonight with a 90-77 triumph over the LA Clippers. The Clippers made a run in the 2nd quarter and were only down 2 at halftime. But Eddie House buried a couple of 3's in the 2nd half, the Celtics came out firing and the Clippers turned the ball over 21 times. KG dropped in 12 points in 17 minutes in his 3rd game back. Ray Allen led the Green with 20 points.Hopefully it's nothing, but Paul Pierce did not reach double-figures for the 3rd straight game. I personally think he is just exhausted. Hopefully he gets the rest he needs. Next up, a big showdown with the Magic in Orlando on Wednesday night. Tip-off at Awmay Arena is 8pm. Goodnite Celtics fans....

ps.....

Oh yeah, here's that facial that Baby gave Darko Milicic tonight. Enjoy....

Big Baby "becoming a toddler.."

Or so he said to Greg Dickerson tonight. Baby dropped in a career-high 24 tonight in another win for the C's. They triumphed over the Grizzlies in Memphis tonight 105-87. KG scored 10 points on 5-7 shooting in 17 minutes. This was his 2nd game back after missing about a month with a knee injury. The C's also got help from the outside with SugarRay hitting 3 of 7 from downtown and E.House going 4 of 9 with the long-ball. Unfortunately the C's were back to double-digits in turnovers with 16, but got the W nevertheless. Paul Pierce scored an uncharacteristically low 6 points and only took 6 shots. But with Davis playing the way he did tonight, it took the pressure off the Big 3. Hakim Warrick led the Grizz with 20. Next up, another "not so good" team-the Clippers. Tip-off on Monday is 7:30pm at the Garden. Orlando beat the Knicks tonight, keeping the C's 1 game ahead of them for the 2nd seed in the East. A big game w/the Magic looms, as the C's travel to Orlando this Wednesday. Enjoy a pic of a friend of mine taken with the Celtics 2007-08 championship trophy. Goodnite Celtics fans....

Welcome back..

KG made his much-anticipated return to the Boston lineup tonight. He started off cold (obviously) but finished with a respectable 5/9 from the field with 10 pts and 4 boards in 15 minutes. More importantly, KG's mere presence got this team amped up tonight. These were the World Champion Boston Celtics-not the struggling C's we've seen of late. Ray Allen led the C's with 19, but it was really the D tonight. Perk was an absolute Beast down-low with 5 blocks, and the C's got some key stops when needed. Can't forget the biggest play of the game-a clutch jumper from in the corner by Glen Davis that sealed the deal with under a minute to play in the 4th. Baby scored 7 pts and grabbed 7 rebounds off the bench tonight. Also of note, only 4 turnovers tonight-that is HUGE against a team with a guy like Tony Parker who loves to get easy layups in transition. Speaking of Le' Parker, he choked down the stretch, missing 4 big free-throws in the final minutes. Great win for the Celts tonight. I honestly haven't felt this good about them in a while. Next up, the Memphis Grizzlies tomorrow night. Tip-off is 8pm from the Fed-Ex Forum. Goodnight Celtics fans...

The Kid

This kid has been a staple and crowd fave at Celtics games over the past couple of years. He and his Mom rarely miss a game. He appeared on "Ellen" today with his mother. Note the very nice surprise Ellen has for them near the end of the clip. I love this kid:

Superman/Classic KG

Here is some classic KG for you. I needed a dose tonight. Hopefully on Friday, we'll all get a big dose vs San Antonio. C's win tonight behind a clutch game from Robin..I mean Rondo, who dropped in 27, but Superman was the real hero once again-Pierce's stat line: 36 points, 3-5 from beyond the arc, 11 boards and 5 assists. It took OT, but the C's get a much needed win vs the Heat 112-108 tonight at home. Next up, the Spurs on Friday. Tip-off is 8:30pm. Goodnite Celtics fans...

Bad to worse...

Celtics fall again tonight, 127-121 to the Bulls. Somehow John Salmons managed to drop 38 points on the C's. Brad Miller, taking advantage of the Celtics' injuries and foul trouble, scored 21 and got 14 boards. P-Double paced the Celts with 37. To make this loss worse, Leon Powe left the game in the 1st half with what the Celtics called a "bruised right knee." Orlando lost to the Cavs tonight keeping the C's up by only percentage points for the 2nd seed in the East. Lebron James continued to dominate scoring 43 for Cleveland. I have to say this loss was very disappointing. The C's themselves admitted a win tonight was very important, as they head into a tough stretch. They now play again tomorrow vs Miami at home, then have another back-to-back with the Spurs and Grizz on Fri & Sat. Doc Rivers has said that KG may return for Friday's tilt w/the Spurs. Tip-off tomorrow vs the Heat is 7pm due to ESPN's national broadcast. Goodnite Celtics fans...

Perk career-high 26 points...

That was today's only highlight. Celts looked sloppy, sluggish and turned it on a bit too late today. Oh yeah, did I mention 25 turnovers? Yeah, 25. TO's have been an issue with this team all year. Next up, the Bulls in Chi-Town on Tuesday night. Tip-off is at 8:30pm....

I Love Leon...

Leon Powe had a career-high 30 points tonight to lead the Celtics to a 102-92 victory. Leon also grabbed 11 boards to go along with 5 blocks. Rajon Rondo rejoined the lineup tonight and had a solid night with 8 boards and 8 helpers. Rudy Gay, who is going to be a great player in this league in my opinion, led the Grizz with 26. It was OJ Mayo who I was looking forward to see play in person tonight, but Gay really commanded my attention. He has an incredibly long wingspan at 6'8", is extremely athletic and has a great jumper on top of everything else. The crowd was on Marc Gasol, brother of the Lakers' Pau, from the player intros. I heard everything from "Mullet!!" to "don't they have razors in Spain!!?" A good, hearty Friday-night Garden crowd. The C's next face the Bucks in Milwaukee on Sunday. Tip-off is at 1pm. Included is a pic of 3 Celtic fans I met upon entering the Garden-they caught my attention with their cool outfits. Also included is a short clip of game action I filmed from my seat-Ray Allen shooting a free-throw off a technical foul, and Leon Powe tipping-in 2 of his 30 points. Goodnite Celtics fans...

Friday the 13th..

Celtics face off against the Grizz tonight at the Garden. Tip-off is at 7:30pm. Rajon Rondo is expected to test out his ankle tonight after having a pain-free shoot around this morning. In case your wondering, since 2002, the Celtics are 3-3 on Friday the 13th. Notable of past Friday the 13th games: a triple-overtime loss to the Sixers on 1/13/06 and a win in one of the best comebacks in sports history against the Lakers in Game 4 of last years Finals (6/13/08).

Not enough

Celtics could not pull off a win in Miami tonight. The undermanned C's lost to DWade and the Heat 107-99 tonight. Ray Allen led the C's with 27 and Leon Powe had a superb game going for 23 points and 13 boards. Wade led the Heat, and all scorers with 32. Stephon Marbury went 0 for 6 with 0 points in his 2nd start for the C's. The Celtics were battling all night, but the Heat came out guns blazing in the 2nd half. It was obvious that Ray and Pierce were both out of gas and needed rest. Next up, the lowly Grizzlies at home on Friday night. Unfortunately, we will be in the same boat personnel wise with Doc stating that Baby, Rondo and KG will all be out for that game also. Tip-off is at 7:30pm. I will be there and hope to post some pics and video Friday night or Saturday morning. We HAVE to start winning consistently if we expect to have home court in the playoffs. Goodnite Celtics fans...

Empty bench...

Not looking good bench-wise tonight. Celtics have 10 players dressed tonight in Miami against the Heat. Rumor has it JoJo White is ready to go if needed. 10-6 Celts early in the 1st quarter...

The 3 Perks...

On Friday evening,I had a chance to meet Kenneth Perkins, father of Kendrick Perkins and proud grandfather of Kendrick Perkins II aka Little Perk. What a classy guy. He did not know me from jack, but Mr. Perkins chatted with me like he knew me all my life. Mr. Perkins is the epitome of a proud parent-and he should be with the success of Perk so far during his NBA career. Before the NBA, Perk's Dad had plenty to cheer about as Perk led Clifton J.Ozen high school in Beaumont, Texas to 4 straight district championships and 1 state championship. In his senior year, he led them to a 33-1 record, their only loss being in the state title game. Kenneth Perkins was also quite the baller, playing professionally in New Zealand and Europe. Here is a pic of "The 3 Perks" taken last year after the Celtics won Banner 17. And notice Little Perk's infatuation with the O'Brien trophy-that could be a good sign of things to come! Thank you to Corey for the picture, and perkisabeast.com and wikipedia for some of the background info.

Hung around..

Without Rondo and KG in the lineup, the Celts still managed to hang around all day, but eventually fell 86-79 to the Magic. Ray Allen led the C's with 32 and hit some clutch shots in the 4th. But a controversial call against Leon Powe with around 2 minutes left in the game led to 2 Rashard Lewis free-throws that put this one out of reach for good. They were down by 22 at one point, and battled back to as close as 3 in the 4th, but couldn't capitalize on a few stops they made. To compound things, the injury bug bit again as Glen Davis was helped to the locker room in the 1st half with what the C's called a "sprained ankle." Rajon Rondo was held out of the starting lineup as well with an ankle injury. Comcast SportsNet said before the game that KG was still at least 1 week away from a return. Other notables from today's game: Celtics had 17 turnovers, Stephon Marbury had 4 points, 3 turnovers and 0 assists in his first start as a Celtic and Dwight Howard led Orlando with 18 points and 5 blocks-a couple of them Sportscenter worthy. C's are now off until Wednesday when they meet the Heat in Miami at American Airlines arena...

Celtics triumph 105-94..

Great night to be an NBA fan. This game had "playoff feel" written all over it. From the moment my sister and I stepped into the Garden, you could feel the buzz in the air. It reminded me alot of last year's playoff games. The Celtics came out strong, with Perkins, Powe, Big Baby and company pounding the paint early and often. Baby was eventually ejected for a hard foul on Anderson Varejao in the 1st half that was ruled a flagrant 2. The Celtics did everything they needed to do tonight with KG out; Guys stepped up: Leon Powe had a huge night with 20 points and 11 boards, Paul Pierce was the usual "Superman" with a great stat line: 29 pts, 9 assists, 4 boards. This was a scrappy game, with alot of bodies flying around and battles down-low all night. The most impressive stat in my eyes however was the C's only giving up 8 turnovers tonight. Turnovers have killed us this year-but not tonight. Paul Pierce did a great job defensively on Lebron. King James finished with 21 points on 5-15 shooting from the field. Mo Williams was the high man for the Cavs with 26. Also of note, Mike Brown pulled his starters, including Lebron, with about 1:35 to go in the 4th. Conceding defeat, or protecting his star from injury? The C's next play tomorrow vs Orlando. Tip-off is 1pm at the Garden. Thanks again Corey! Included is a pic of my sister and I with Perk and a clip I filmed of 'Bron missing a key free-throw down the stretch. Goodnite Celtics fans..

The Truth shall set you free...

The Celtics beat the Nets tonight in New Jersey behind P-Dub's 31 points. Paul was a sniper tonight-he shot 12 of 14 from the field. Ray Allen hit a huge,game-tying 3 with 1.05 minutes left in the 4th. After a big Celtics stop on defense, Pierce hit a 17 foot jumper with 20.9 seconds to play. Ray Allen then put it away with 2 free-throws with about 7 ticks left. Rondo had another great game, scoring 20 pts, grabbing 5 boards, and dishing out 5 assists-a couple of them highlight-reel worthy. Perk also contributed in a big way tonight, scoring 17 and hauling in 13 boards. Eddie House was the leading bench scorer with 10 points, shooting 3 of 6 from 3 point land. This was a big win for the C's. It gives them momentum heading in to the showdown with 'Bron and the Cavs on Friday. Tip-off is at 8pm on the Garden floor. Should be a good one. I'll be there and hope to post some thoughts and photos afterwards. Goodnite Celtics fans....

Celts 60-56 start of 2nd half..

Celts looking good so far vs New Jersey. Kendrick Perkins, who has been rather "quiet" lately has 10 points and 7 boards. P-Double leads the C's with 18. Half-man Half-amazing leads the Nets with 17.

Unlucky since Lucky's firing....

Lucky was fired 1/30/09. Was this in turn bad luck for the Celtics..? Since Lucky (Damon Blust) was fired, we've had numerous injuries, Tony Allen hurts thumb on 2/10/09, KG goes down 2/19/09, Scal suffers numerous head/neck injuries just days before and is announced he's "out indefinitely" on 2/1/09. Then we also had losses to the Spurs and Lakers at home, terrible loss to the Clippers in L.A., Gabe Pruitt arrested for suspicion of DUI..I don't know-maybe we need to bring Lucky back...

105-95..

Behind Richard Hamilton's 26 points and 9 assists, the Pistons beat the Celtics 105-95 this afternoon at the TD Banknorth Garden. It was Hamilton's 2nd game since being reinserted in the starting lineup. Paul Pierce also scored 26 for the C's. the story here was Hamilton, who had his 2nd big game in a row. On Friday night, he dropped in 31 against the Magic. The story today was turnovers and 3 pt. shooting. The Celtics had 12 turnovers-a few below their season average, but a couple very costly ones. The Pistons also used full-court pressure in the 1st half to take advantage of Stephon Marbury's "rustiness." The Pistons shot 50% from behind the arc, with Tayshaun Prince, Hamilton and Rasheed Wallace all hitting 2 a piece. The Celtics were only able to hit 2 total, both from Eddie House, to shot a lowly 14% from 3 pt. land. I was at the game today, and the energy in that building was low, to put it nicely. My sister, who attended Friday night's game vs Indiana, mentioned that Friday was "just not the same" without KG's presence. You may say "no kiddding.." but we're not just talking about KG being out of action, but his mere presence in the building alone changes so much. The only thing I can really compare it to is High-Definition television-once you have HD television, trying to watch regular cable tv is just not the same. Without KG around, the arena seems quieter, the lights seem dimmer, and it feels like someone just sucked the life out of the crowd. Next up, the NJ Nets and this year's obvious choice for most-improved (so far), Devin Harris. Tip-off is at 7:30pm on Wednesday. Hopefully the team will give us some type of update on Garnett this week. Enjoy a couple video clips shot from my phone at today's game. One is the Celtics warming-up just before tip, and the other the Celtics Dancers coming off the floor after one of their routines. Have a goodnite Celtics fans...
