What a night at the Garden. Brandon of Gino's Jungle.com and myself got there early tonight to watch warm-ups. There was definitely a "buzz" in the air, and also some tension. It was obvious even during pregame warm-ups that security would be tighter, and deeper than usual. But believe it or not, 2 of the Miami players, Michael Beasley and Jermaine O'Neal, were rather friendly w/Celtics fans before the game. Beasley gave his shooting shirt to a young boy in the crowd, and O'Neal held court with about 15 or 20 fans, joking around and signing alot of autographs. But as the game grew closer, things intensified. Brandon and I were warned once by security for hanging over the railing a bit and yelling at the Heat as they entered the arena before tip-off. I also had a run-in with a goofy looking guy in a DWade jersey. The crowd did get on Q quite a bit, but we never got a good chant going for him. Oh well, we kicked their butts on the court-that's all that matters.
Glen Davis was just unstoppable tonight-scoring 23 pts to go with 8 boards in 27 minutes. And of course SugarRay was blistering hot, burying 7 three-pointers to score a team-high 25 points. Perk, who I predicted on Spurscast Live the other night would have a big game, dominated down-low. He grabbed 9 boards, scored 13 points and had 2 blocks. Boston detsroyed Miami on the glass, outrebounding them 50-33. Celts now travel to Miami, where the crowd should be hostile, to face the Heat in Game 3. Tip-off on Friday is at 7pm. Had a chance to hang-out a bit after the game and mingle with some of the players. Shelden Williams took alot of time out to greet some of his Twitter followers and winners of a ticket contest he held. He is definitely a guy that really appreciates his fans and seems to find joy in interacting with them. Above is a pic I took of him and Brandon. I also have included a clip I filmed from my phone of us giving Q and the rest of the Heat a great "goodnite"...
